RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond man pleaded guilty today to possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute and possessing semi-automatic guns and ammunition as a previously convicted felon.

On Sept. 19, 2023, Richmond Police Narcotics Detectives and the Virginia State Police Tactical Team carried out a search warrant at the home of 30-year-old Errez Tekel Perry. According to court documents, the police team knocked and received no response, then they proceeded to bust the door down and enter the home.

According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Perry ran from an area near the front door to the back of the house while ignoring the team’s orders. He was then taken into custody.

DOJ said investigators retrieved two semi-automatic guns, ammunition, two drum magazines, approximately 64 grams of cocaine, packages of Suboxone, baggies of numerous pills, baggies of approximately 200 grams of marijuana, baggies with residue, digital scales, a cash counter and two cellphones.

Perry was previously convicted of felony drug trafficking, felony drug possession, possession of a firearm with Schedule I and II controlled substances, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, as well as possession of a firearm and ammunition as a felon, according to DOJ.

Following this most recent incident, Perry is scheduled for sentencing on July 30. According to the DOJ, he may face a maximum of 15 years in prison for being a felon possessing a firearm and ammunition, as well as a maximum of 20 years in prison for possessing cocaine with an intent to distribute.

DOJ said sentences for federal crimes are usually less than the maximum penalties. A judge from the federal district court will determine sentencing after reviewing U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutory factors.
