The Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) supports the Fort Bend community in numerous ways, including donating monies raised from fundraisers to event beneficiaries and providing volunteers to agencies selected as core placements. The FBJSL’s Community Assistance Fund (CAF) allows FBJSL to extend financial support even further by providing grants of up to $5,000.00 to charitable causes serving Fort Bend County with requests to fund a critical need, pilot a program, or expand a significant service to the community.

Disclosure: To protect the identity of the father and children, names and photos have been changed. A Texas man who lost his wife in 2020 has been dealing with another loss for almost a year now. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services took custody of his 4 children, and despite false promises, they have repeatedly refused to allow the kids to return home.

Nearly $40,000 in scholarship money awarded to 26 graduating seniors
Nearly 30 students were the lucky recipients of a scholarship awarded by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office. According to a press release, Sheriff Eric Fagan awarded 26 graduating high school seniors from Fort Bend Co. with a $1,500 scholarship through his and Captain Kevin Hunt's joint program, "Jokes and Justice," in partnership with Patrick's Project and Unlimited Visions Aftercare, Inc.
TWO KATY MEN ARRESTED SUNDAY
Two Katy men were arrested Sunday after a traffic stop. Brenham Police report that Sunday evening at 6:50, Officer Anderson initiated a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West. A probable cause search revealed several packages of narcotics and two firearms located inside the vehicle. The driver, Trenton Odell Porter, 30 of Katy, and passenger, Darius Travon Thomas, 30 of Katy, were placed under arrest for Unlawful Carrying a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz, and Possession of a Dangerous Drug.
