Kimberly Pope Adams seeks re-election in 82nd District
Fresh off the 2026 local and midterm elections, Democratic Del. Kimberly Pope Adams announced her intent to seek re-election to the Virginia House of Delegates in November 2027. In a statement released Nov. 4, Pope Adams said she was seeking a second two-year term because "there's still much more to do" for the 82nd House District beyond 2027. “Our district is home to hardworking families, farmers, small business owners, and communities with tremendous potential,” Pope Adams said in a statement annoucing her intent. “Whether it’s keeping a family farm operating, funding our classrooms, repairing a bridge, or bringing broadband to a rural home, these are real challenges that require more than promises. They require persistence and results.” The 43-year-old Hopewell native and Dinwiddie County resident is so far the only Democrat to announce for the seat, and she is not expected to face opposition for the nomination. Republicans have yet to announce who they will back next year. Pope Adams has faced former Del. Kim Taylor of Dinwiddie County in the past two election cycles. In 2023, Taylor defeated Pope Adams in a tight race that was decided by a recount. Pope Adams came back in 2053 to defeat Taylor
