    Rib Lake, Phillips chasing Abbotsford/Colby

    MARAWOOD NORTH CONFERENCE

    The boys high school baseball season is heading to final weeks of play with Rib Lake and Phillips still chasing Abbotsford/Colby for the conference title.

    Abbotsford/Colby High School is currently 7-1 in Marawood-North Conference boys baseball and in first place. The team is 12-6 overall.

    Rib Lake is in second with a 6-1 conference record and 10-3 overall. The Redmen most recently defeated Phillips 4-0 on April 30.

    Rib Lake will play at Newman Catholic next followed by a two game series with Chequamegon. Dominic Quednow and Andrew Wudi are leading the team in batting. Quednow and Brady Heiser are leading in runs batted in. Talon Scheithauer and Jackson Blomberg are leading in pitching, each with 4 wins.

    Phillips is in third place with a 4-3 conference record and are 4-4 overall. The Loggers have a chance to climb in the conference standing when they host Abbotsford/Colby on May 7, and travel to Abbotsford/Colby on May 9.

    Jack Kulwicki and Drew Hauschild are leading the Loggers in hitting. Hauschild and Daniel Adomaitis are leading in runs batted in. Adomaitis and Ayden Tobias are leading in pitching with 2 wins each.

    Athens has a 4-4 conference record and are 5-6 overall.

    Chequamegon is 1-7 in the conference and 1-11 overall. The Eagles most recently lost 4-1 at Stratford on May 3, and host Prentice next on May 7, and will travel to Rib Lake on May 9, before hosting Edgar on May 10.

    Corbyn Phelps and Nolan Niehoff are currently the batting leaders. Niehoff and Antonio Poetzl are leading in runs batted in. Phelps is the pitching leader with 1 win.

    Prentice is currently 1-7 in the conference and 3-10 overall. The Buccaneers lost 9-1 at Northland Pines on May 3, and will play at Tomahawk on May 6, before at two-game series with Athens, first at Athens on May 7, and at Prentice on May 9.

    Heston Hueckman and Hardy Hueckman are the team batting leaders. Adam Raab and Heston Hueckman are leading with runs batted in. Heston Hueckman is leading in pitching with 2 wins, followed by Jonas Staroba with 1 win.

    NORTHERN LIGHTS CONFERENCE

    The Butternut/Mercer High School baseball team is currently 2-5 in the conference and 2-6 overall. The Pioneers lost 6-5 to South Shore on April 30. The team hosts Mellen on May 6, before heading to Washburn on May 7, and hosts Drummond on May 10.
