These are the March 18-24 nominees for Champion Chevrolet RGJ High School Athlete of the Week, which recognizes top performances among Northern Nevada's high school athletes. Send the names and stats for any outstanding performance by a Northern Nevada high school athlete for consideration for Champion Chevrolet RGJ High School Athletes of the Week list to sports@rgj.com , and cast your vote for the top weekly performance in the poll at RGJ.com. Voting will remain open through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 28.

Emery Snyder, junior, Galena: Snyder hit for the cycle (single, double, triple, home run) in a 14-12 loss to Reno in softball on March 21. Snyder was 4-for-4 with three RBIs in the game.

Luke Goddard, junior, Reed: Goddard went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the Raiders' 6-5 win over Spanish Springs in baseball on March 21.

Zack Silverman, senior, Reno: Silverman allowed one hit with no walks while striking out seven in the Huskies' 2-0 win over McQueen on March 22. He has committed to play baseball for Umpqua Community College.

Luke Swanson, freshman, Bishop Manogue: Swanson fired a 69 at Eagle Valley Golf Course on March 18 to win the boys golf tournament. The Miners won the team title.

Talia Tretton, senior, Douglas : Tretton struck out 12, allowed one hit, and went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a home run at the plate in the Tigers' 12-0 win over Damonte Ranch in softball on March 21.

Nick Woodhead, senior, Reno: Woodhead won the boys high jump with a height of six feet even at the Bishop Manogue Elite Eight Invitational on March 23, 2024. He was the only high jumper to clear six feet at the meet.

MacKenzie Sellers, freshman, Reno: Sellers cleared 12 feet in the pole vault at the Manogue Elite Eight track and field meet at Bishop Manogue on March 23. It is the best mark in the North this season and second-best in the state for girls pole vault. She also has the second-best pole vault in the nation for a freshman girl.

Brooke Baxter, senior, Spanish Springs: Baxter was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored in the Cougars' 16-1 win over Bishop Manogue in softball on March 23.

Kaylee Sanchez, sophomore, Bishop Manogue: Sanchez was 3-for-3 at the plate with the lone RBI in a 1-0 (8 innings) win over Reed in softball on March 21.

Tre LaGrone, senior, McQueen: LaGrone struck out 11 and allowed one hit in the Lancers' 11-1 win over Spanish Springs in baseball on March 19.

Thomas Young, senior, Douglas: Young was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored in the Tigers 12-5 win over Damonte Ranch in baseball on March 23.

Naomi Park, senior, Truckee: Park started the lacrosse season as a defender, but transitioned into a midfielder. Through three games, she has five goals and three assists, nine draw controls, five caused turnovers and one interception.
