JASPER COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) - Members of public service departments including the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, Joplin Police, and others, gather for a groundbreaking ceremony for a new communication tower.

The annual event on KSN and KODE finds friendly fur ever homes to dozens of animals from the shelter. May 17th -19th is a prime time to bring home a new furry friend. The adoption FEES ARE WAIVED on all of the shelter pets. The FREE ADOPTION EVENT is only until Sunday, May 19. Each pet will receive a new home kit including a bandana, grooming brush and a bag of pet food (while supplies last) when you adopt this weekend. Adoption Event Hours are Friday, May 17 from 11am-7pm, Saturday, May 18 from 10am-5pm, and Sunday May 19 from 1-5pm! Cleanup continues in Monett following EF-1 damage

Construction for a new emergency radio system is underway in Jasper County
Sarcoxie, MO –Work is now underway on a new Jasper County-wide public safety radio system. Officials broke ground yesterday at the Sarcoxie radio tower site on Bridgeview Road. The project will revitalize four existing tower locations throughout the county and build two new ones. It'll also fund new radio equipment for first responders and their vehicles.

Bus driver and one student were sent to the hospital after a Bus crashed on a highway
Mt. Vernon, MO – A school bus carrying the Mount Vernon Missouri baseball team, was involved in an accident around 8:30 last night in newton county. The driver experienced a medical emergency on Missouri Highway 43 south of Petro. The bus was traveling at highway speed, went off the road, and hit a culvert. One student was taken to a Joplin hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bus driver was taken to a hospital by private vehicle.
