Wilton Police Investigate Overnight Break-Ins at Several Wilton Businesses
Wilton Police are investigating a series of late-night break-ins at several businesses in Wilton and are asking for the public’s help. According to Lt. Anna Tornello of the Wilton Police Department, the break-ins have happened at three locations: the Mohegan Smoke Shop in the Gateway Shopping Center at 14 Danbury Rd. around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 26; the Mobil gas station at 932 Danbury Rd. in Georgetown shortly before 2 a.m. on Friday, June 7; and at the Wheels Citgo gas station at 386 Danbury Rd. shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday, June, 8.
Juneteenth Celebration, Saturday, June 10 in Norwalk
WNLK 1350 AM and JEH-Productions are presenting the “The Sound of Freedom”event to commemorate Juneteenth at the Carver Community Center on Saturday, June 10, 2017, 6 PM. The celebration is under the direction of James E. Hinton, founder of JEH-Productions. Fairfield County radio DJ “Big T” of WNLK Radio 1350AM will join Mr. Hinton in producing the Juneteenth event that will offer an evening of music, dance, skits, and Gospel Quartet Singing for all ages. The Northern Gates, Vizion Muzik, The Gospel Luzins, and the Grace Baptist Men’s Chorus will be among the performances at “The Sound of Freedom” Juneteenth celebration. The term Gospel Quartet refers to 4-point harmonizing voices, singing spiritual and switching parts simultaneously. Tickets in advance or at the door are $15 per person. Possibility of New Pickleball Courts in Place in Months Ahead as Bid Documents Out for Six-Figure Project
Bridgeport Parks and Recreation will be getting a new addition, potentially before the weather turns bad, that will likely see heavy use immediately. “The area for the new courts is between Deegan and Hinkle Lakes, just above where the dog park is located,” said Parks and Recreation Director Joe Shuttleworth. “There is a grassy area there that we can utilize.”
