Graduation is a big moment in life
As I prepare to travel to another state to see my oldest granddaughter Grace Bevins graduate from high school, I could only think back to my own graduation 50 years ago. Yes, I’m that old – although I was the youngest in my class at Williamson High back in 1974, barely 17 years old. (There was no kindergarten back then, so I started first grade at Nolan as a young 5-year-old.)

Local veterans groups award scholarships to 10 high school seniors
The Veterans Coalition for Quality Health Care and DAV Chapter 18 of Auxier awarded scholarships to 10 high school seniors across Floyd, Johnson and Martin counties. Five students received scholarships of $500 each. The recipients include Ashdon Kerr from Martin County High School, Brett Gipson from Paintsville High School, Alex Hinkle from Betsy Layne High School, Constance Martin from Johnson Central High School and Timothy C. Robinson from Prestonsburg High School.
