Mushrooms, Ecstasy, Promethazine, 3lbs of marijuana, THC vapes confiscated during traffic stop

RAVENSWOOD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Ohio man faces possession-related charges following a Tuesday traffic stop during which an array of prohibited substances was discovered by law enforcement.

According to the Ravenswood Police Department, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, officers with the Ravensw2ood PD facilitated a traffic stop on a blue Mazda which was traveling on 33 east.

Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle – identified as Tommy L. Darby of Mansfield, Ohio – officers report having immediately detected the scent of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle.

Officers confirmed that Darby had indeed been using marijuana prior to the traffic stop, and also discovered that the driver had an active warrant out of Ohio. At this point, a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.

This search led to the discovery of several substances including 68g of Psilocybin “magic” mushrooms, 18g of ecstasy, four THC vape pens, 32 bottles of Promethazine hydrocholoride oral solution, and over three pounds of marijuana, along with a Springfield 9mm handgun and several rounds of ammunition.

The subject was arrested as a result of the search and faces charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substances (two counts). Darby was transported to South Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $60,000 bond.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office also provided assistance in the investigation, including during the search of the subject’s vehicle.
