Moline Breakfast Optimist Club names its 2024 Top Cop
EAST MOLINE, Ill. — The Moline Breakfast Optimist Club is celebrating National Police Week by honoring local law enforcement. The club gave out its annual "Top Cop" award at a ceremony at the Fresh Kitchen in East Moline on Wednesday, May 15. After receiving nominations from the Moline Police Department, East Moline Police Department and the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office, club members whittled the list down to three contenders before finally naming the winner. The recognition ultimately went to Mike Mendoza, deputy sheriff at the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office.
Clinton intersection closes for reconstruction project
There’s a traffic alert for part of Clinton. Because of storm sewer installation as a part of the Clinton’s 13th St. reconstruction project, the intersection of N. 13th St. and 4th Ave. N. will be closed temporarily. The work is scheduled to take ten days. During the work, the road will be reduced to one lane with periods of intermitted closures.

Workers at Davenport Starbucks vote to form union
DAVENPORT, Iowa — Employees at the Starbucks location on 3120 E. 53rd Street in Davenport have voted to unionize. According to a post from the Starbucks Workers United account on X, formerly known as Twitter, workers held the successful election on Tuesday, May 14. The post also says that four other locations held successful union elections the same night.

Managers of King’s Harvest Pet Rescue recently acquired a larger building to house its animals. They planned to move this spring, but the move was put on hold because the building needs hundreds of thousands of dollars in repairs. CLINTON, Iowa (KWQC) - A traffic alert for Clinton drivers.
