An action-packed April at Northern Starz Center for the Performing Arts in Ramsey features a pair of productions and the organization’s annual spring fundraiser.

The month begins with “Line Dancing with Billie” on Saturday, April 6 from 7-10 p.m. During the night, Billie Timmerman will teach several country line dances, with a cowboy happy hour as well.

The focus then turns to the inaugural production put on by the new Northern Starz Musical Conservatory in “Chicago: Teen Edition,” from April 18-25.

“Sixth-12th grade students have participated in the conservatory program since November 2023,” Northern Starz Executive Director Rachel Bohnsack said. “‘Theatre for Life’ is more than just a motto for the Northern Starz Musical Theatre Conservatory Program. We believe that creative expression through the performing arts can have a lasting impact on students whether they simply have a love for the arts, want to learn to better express themselves, or desire a career as a theater professional. Our goal is to pass on a love of theater, music and dance in a supportive and nurturing environment. We are committed to quality instruction that instills fundamental theatrical and life skills on which students can build and work toward their full potential as artists and community members.”

Performances are Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m.; Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Monday, April 22, at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, April 23, at 7 p.m.; and Wednesday, April 24, at 7 p.m.; as well as a final performance during the Curtains Up Fundraiser on April 25.

On Thursday, April 25, Northern Starz will host its 12th annual Curtains Up Fundraiser, starting with a social hour at 5 p.m. and continuing through the night.

“As a small performing arts nonprofit, funds are raised to support the operating budget and programming for individuals of all ages and abilities in the community,” Bohnsack said. “The $100 ticket price for the fundraiser includes a social hour, dinner and a ticket to the closing night performance of ‘Chicago: Teen Edition.’ (This is the only way to get a ticket for the closing night production.) Live performances and speeches from supporters will be a part of the evening’s events. We hope you can join us to celebrate and support Northern Starz Center for the Performing Arts!”

Reservations for the Curtains Up Fundraiser must be made by April 20.
