Photo at refuge is featured in magazine
A photograph taken at the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge near Zimmerman is featured in the latest issue of the “Minnesota Conservation Volunteer” magazine. The photo is of a bee feeding on prairie alumroot at the refuge. It was taken by Nicole Gerjets of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. New classes cover hats, embroidery, wedding dance tips
District 728 Community Education has some new classes coming up soon. They include: • Brims & Brews: Tuesday, June 4, 6-9 p.m. Pour Cocktail Bar and Bites, Otsego. Gypsy Creek Artisan Boutique is bringing its hat bar to Otsego. An artist will guide participants in decorating, burning and accessorizing a trendy felt hat. Registration fee includes the hat, two ribbon bands, charm, feather and one design burning. Class fee: $69. Additional hat items will be available for purchase. Students at Maple Grove Senior High School have been hard at work on “CenterStage [Act 14]: Live in Color,” and invite the public to see the show at an upcoming performance. “Live in Color” showcases the talents of all of the students in the show as they perform various singing and dancing routines in groups ranging from soloists to the entire cast on stage. Elk River Library kicks off Summer Reading Challenge on June 3
Great River Regional Library will kick off the annual Summer Reading Challenge on Monday, June 3, and continue through Saturday, Aug. 3. Registration begins June 3 in the Beanstack app, on griver.beanstack.org, or by visiting the Elk River Library during open hours. Participants track their reading in the Beanstack app or using a paper slip, which they return to the library. Participants are eligible for prize drawings at the end of the program.
