RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — One person is dead after a car crashed into a home on Poole Road Thursday morning, according to Raleigh police.

Police said Jelson Molina Carbajal, 28, was operating a 2016 Ford Explorer at 2:15 a.m. with an adult male passenger traveling eastbound in the 1400 block of New Bern Avenue.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Carbajal tried to make a left turn onto Poole Road, hitting the curb on the right side of New Bern Ave. Carbajal overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle.

Police said all parties, including the passenger in Carbajal’s vehicle, were transported to the hospital. Smith died from his injuries.

Carbajal was charged with driving while impaired, felony death by vehicle, two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving to endanger and no operators license.
