    Alabama Christian softball falls to Plainview in the Class 3A softball state tournament

    OXFORD — With the game scoreless through the first four innings, Plainview’s seventh inning heroics propelled it past Alabama Christian (15-19) 4-3 in the Class 3A first round of the AHSAA softball state championships.

    Jada Hampton’s two-run home run gave Plainview (34-9) its first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Izzy Warrick got an RBI in the sixth inning for Alabama Christian’s first runs.

    Alabama Christian’s Anna Gleason hit a two-run double to the score at 3-3, heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

    In the final inning, a fielding error from Alabama Christian allowed for Plainview to get on base. Hannah Regula' single brought in the winning run for the Bears.

    Plainview will matchup against Opp in the semifinals which is scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Alabama Christian will face Madison Academy in the elimination bracket.
