Maynard James Keenan ’s month-long “Sessanta Tour” — celebrating his 60th birthday and featuring his bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer alongside Primus — wrapped up Saturday night (May 4th) at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York. With it being the last show of the outing, Keenan and company smashed a couple of “60” piñatas to put a bow on the festivities.
As we reported after the tour’s kickoff show in Boston back on April 2nd, the “Sessanta Tour” featured rotating sets by the three bands, including various moments where members of more than one band played onstage together. The Los Angeles show on April 20th included a surprise performance from Tool , along with guest appearances by original A Perfect Circle members Paz Lenchantin and Troy Van Leeuwen.
Like all of the shows on the tour, Saturday night’s gig at Forest Hills Stadium ended with an all-star performance of Puscifer’s “Grand Canyon” featuring members of all three bands onstage, including Primus’ Les Claypool (in a pig mask) and A Perfect Circle’s Billy Howerdel.
Following that final song, Keenan and company let loose on a pair of “60” piñatas to end the “Sessanta Tour” with a bang.
The “Sessanta Tour” is over, but fans in the UK and Europe can catch Keenan when Tool kick off a month-long tour on May 25th in Hannover, Germany ( pick up tickets here ).
