(NEXSTAR) – Sunny Choi says she has had Olympic dreams since she was very small. This summer she will have the chance to show the world her breakdancing skills at the Paris Olympics.

“These dreams are a long time coming,” Choi said.

The 34-year-old from Queens, N.Y. started breaking during her freshman year at the University of Pennsylvania. Choi hopes to inspire others to be comfortable expressing themselves through dance.

“Breaking would have gone on anyway with or without the Olympics, but it does give us this platform to reach so many new people,” Choi said.

Breaking will make its Olympic debut in Paris with two women and two men representing the U.S. Two of those spots have already been filled by Choi and Victor Montalvo.

Choi is the first woman breaker to qualify for an Olympic Games in United States history.
