CARMEL – There was standing room only at the Centennial Grille in Carmel when Cove Care hosted its annual fundraising Spelling Bee competition. At the end of the evening, Team Bizee Bees, composed of members of the Brewster Rotary and Brewster Chamber of Commerce, were crowned champions by correctly spelling the word “chiaroscuro,” meaning “the treatment of light and shade in drawing and painting.”
Three-time felon sentenced to prison
CARMEL – William Mancusi, a three-time felony loser, was sentenced to nine years in prison Tuesday by Putnam County Court Judge Joseph Spofford. The resident of Kent, who spent years incarcerated in a state penitentiary for two prior convictions, was found guilty in January of selling a combination of heroin and fentanyl on two occasions, one of which resulted in the death of a man caused by the illegal contraband sold by Mancusi.
