    Sushi preparation class at Pueblo West Library

    298 S. Joe Martinez Blvd. | noon-2 p.m. | Join the Japan America Society of Southern Colorado to learn the art and preparation of sushi. Register at pueblolibrary.org or call 719-562-5600. The class is free .

    Mental health awareness research program at Rawlings Library

    100 E. Abriendo Ave., first-floor Thurston meeting room | 3 p.m. | Join the reference librarian for tips on mental health awareness research. One-on-one research appointments are available.

    Just a Regular Pool Tournament at The Ethos

    615 E. Mesa Ave. | 7-9 p.m. | The pool tournament is a singles, 8-ball event. Cost is a $5 entry fee and the winner takes home half of the total pot. Must be 16 or older to participate.

    Ghostlight Series Play at Impossible Playhouse

    1201 N. Main St. | 7:30 p.m. May 17-18 and 2 p.m. May 19 and again at 7:30 p.m. May 24-25| Join Director Craig Smith and the Impossible Players for "Gruesome Playground Injuries" by Rajiv Joseph. The show is R-rated. All tickets are $10 . Reservations can be made by calling 719-542-6969 and tickets are sold online.

    Public train rides at Pueblo Railway Museum

    132 W. B St. | 10 a.m.-2 p.m. | The train will depart every 20 minutes from behind the Pueblo Union Depot. Tickets are on sale in the museum gift shop, a converted caboose near the passenger boarding area. Cost is $15 for a ride in the engine or $10 for a ride in one of the three cabooses . Children younger than 2 ride the train free. Payment is by cash or check only, please.

    Goth Night at The Ethos

    615 E. Mesa Ave. | 7-11 p.m. | Come stomp your heart out to your favorites like old-school industrial, 80s throwbacks, electronic dance music and more featuring DJ B-Alex. Cost is $5 and participants must be 16 or older after 9 p.m.

    Comedy show at 1129 Spirits & Eatery

    115 E. Riverwalk | 8 p.m | Pueblo's Douglas Sterner is host, plus Denver-based comedians Jason Alexander and Headliner Alan Bromwell will perform. The cost is $15 per person and tickets can be purchased in advance at the restaurant or at the door. There is a two-item order minimum from either the bar or kitchen on the night of the show.     National Alliance on Mental Illness talk at First Unitarian Society

    110 Calla Ave. | 10:30 a.m. | Bonnie Bowman, Ph.D., will speak on the intersection of physical and mental health from the group's new program Hearts and Minds. Bowman is the program coordinator for NAMI Southeast Colorado. The organization is "dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness."

    Swing Dance at Elks Ballroom

    426 N. Santa Fe Ave. | 1:15 p.m. free dance lessons, 2-5 p.m. dance | The SoCo Family Polka Club will host a dance of swing music and other styles by Swing Connection, under the direction of Steve Harget, featuring vocals by Carlos Crull. Cost is $5 for members and $7 for guests , cash only, please.

    Afternoon Matinee at Rosemount Carriage House

    406 W. 15th St. | 2-4 p.m. | "Something to Talk About" starring Julia Roberts, Robert Duvall and Dennis Quaid will be screened. The movie is rated R. Cost is $5 per person and includes movie snacks .

    Mexican Torta fundraiser at Our Lady of Mount Carmel

    421 Clark St. | 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. | The Knights of Columbus meal will feature a Mexican torta of either carne asada or carne al pastor. Cost is $12 per torta with a beverage of choice. All proceeds go toward the council and the church. Desserts as well as coffee and doughnuts also will be available. Advance orders can be called in to Ron Martinez at 719-557-2062.

    Pueblo Stamp Club Meeting at Rawlings Library

    100 E. Abriendo Ave., Friends of the Library Meeting Room | 1-3 p.m. | The meeting topic will focus on stamps of Antarctica . The meeting is free and open to the publi c. All ages are welcome. Donations of U.S. and foreign stamps for free distribution at club meetings are welcome.

    YMCA of Pueblo Community Celebration at Fuel & Iron Food Hall

    400 S. Union Ave. | 5:30 p.m. | The celebration will honor the dedicated efforts and contributions made by board members, donors, sponsors, and community leaders throughout the past year.

    Folklorico and Mariachi performance at Ersilia Cruz Middle School

    2727 W. 18th St. | 6-7 p.m. | The Bailes de Aztlan, or Dances from the Chicano Ancestral Homeland, program will feature 50 Ballet Folklorico student dancers and 50 Mariachi students in fourth through 12th grades who participate in the Chavez Huerta Preparatory Academy folklorico and mariachi elective classes. The students created new dances and choreography to traditional folk songs from the album "Rolas de Aztlan: Songs from the Chicano Movement, a Smithsonian Folkways Recording." The songs were fueled by the Chicano Movement's quest for civil rights, economic justice, and cultural respect. The event is free and open to the public .

    100 E. Abriendo Ave., first floor, Bret Kelly B meeting room | 6-7:30 p.m. May 21 and again Friday, May 24 | This free seminar helps inform people who have loved ones with a mental health condition how to best support them.

    Southern Colorado Astronomy Club meeting at CSU Pueblo

    2200 Bonforte Blvd., Physics Math building room 103 | 6:30 p.m. | Bill Brown will give a presentation, "Exploring the Earth and Moon," covering the seasons, astrology and pseudoscience, the motion of the planets, cycles of the moon, phases of the noon, tides, and astronomical influences of Earth’s climate.

    Pueblo Entertainment Industry Mixer at Pueblo Convention Center

    320 Central Main St. | 6-8 p.m. | The convention center staff and Mountain Star Management are hosting the event to provide networking opportunities for individuals in the local entertainment industry. Artists, venue representatives, event coordinators, studio professionals, or entertainment company reps can expand their network and explore potential partnerships. There will be a local talent showcase, hors d'oeuvres and refreshments plus a gift card drawing. Free tickets for the mixer are available at PuebloEntMixer.eventbrite.com . Space is limited, so reservations are required.
