PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Roger Williams Park Zoo is mourning the loss of one of its beloved goats.

Gingy, a 10-year-old Nigerian dwarf goat, was humanely euthanized after suffering from age-related arthritis, which impacted his comfort, according to the zoo.

The zoo described Gingy as “intelligent, curious, gentle, affectionate, independent and unique.”

“Gingy was truly special and so well loved,” the zoo wrote in a social media post Tuesday. “He even had a fan club of zoo guests.”

The zoo said Gingy spent the majority of his life interacting with guests in the Alex and Ani Farmyard.

His favorite activities included, “being brushed, eating all the snacks, climbing up on staff to get scritches behind the ears and sitting in the yard with the warm sun on his face,” according to the zoo.

“Gingy will truly be missed by all,” the zoo said.
