PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Crook County School Board made it official Monday evening that Dr. Melissa Skinner will serve as the next superintendent for the Crook County School District. Following a comprehensive search and extensive community involvement, the board unanimously approved her contract and introduced her at the school board meeting in Brothers.

With over two decades of experience in educational leadership, Dr. Skinner brings a wealth of expertise and a proven track record of success to her new role. Her extensive background includes serving in various administrative capacities, including Executive Director of Leadership, Deputy Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and leading schools as a principal.

"I am honored and excited to join the Crook County School District as its next superintendent," said Dr. Skinner. "I look forward to collaborating with the board, staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders to continue the district's tradition of excellence and ensure every student receives a high-quality education."

Dr. Skinner holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Education specializing in Curriculum and Teaching, a Master of Education in Administration/Supervision, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary and Middle School Education. She believes in student-focused leadership, instructional excellence, and continuous improvement that fosters a positive school culture.

School board member Scott Cooper said, “Dr. Skinner was a find. She has strong credentials in instructional leadership and improvement, but she was also in touch with the culture of the community from the moment we met her. Smart and feisty and friendly. That’s the balance I think the board was looking for.”

Dr. Skinner's tenure as superintendent officially begins Monday, July 15th. In the meantime, she will work closely with district leaders to ensure a smooth transition and start familiarizing herself with the district's priorities, challenges, and opportunities.
