Family opens Lazy Loon Lodge
Jiffy and Chris Spurrier are the new owners of Lazy Loon Lodge, located on State Highway just north of Park Falls. Jiffy Spurrier said the couple started looking at the property to purchase the former Park Falls Motel in May 2023, and acquired it the following October. After a soft opening on March 18 Lazy Loon is now open for breakfast, brunch and espresso-based coffees from 6 to 11 a.m., with plans to add lunch and dinner menus. ...

Mosinee Survives Lakeland scare to Move to 19-0
MINOCQUA, Wis. (WJFW)- The Mosinee Indians faced the toughest battle of their perfect season as Lakeland Union gave them all they could handle but in the end the Indians survived with a 4-3 win to move to 19-0. Mosinee sophomore Ava Busse and Lakeland Junior and Arkansas commit Saylor Timmerman battled through four scoreless innings before Mosinee struck in the fifth. A Taelyn Jirschele single and an Amber Gonzalez RBI ground out gave Mosinee a 2-0 lead.
Prentice students place in Congressional art competition
Prentice students were named third place and honorable mention winners of Wisconsin’s Seventh District 2024 Congressional Art Competition, according to a May 2 press release from the office of U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-WI. The theme for the 2024 competition was “A day in the life of Wisconsin.’ Nicholas Gonzalez, who attends Prentice High School, was named the third place winner for his work, “Revaluation of a John Deere.” His artwork will be displayed in Rep.
