One dead in Union County boating accident
Union County, Pa. – Officials have confirmed one woman is dead as a result of a boating accident in Union County this weekend. Melissa Commings, 37, of Minersville, Pa. was confirmed dead due to accidental drowning, said Union County Coroner Dominick T. Adamo. On Saturday, April 20, rescue crews responded to calls of a boating emergency involving multiple people and a capsized boat near Silo Lane in Union County. Upon arrival, rescue crews located a man and dive teams began to search for the other individual, later identified as Cummings, in the water. After searching for over an hour, dive teams located Cummings in the water and she was transported to Evangelical Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
