I-Team Lead investigator Andy Mehalshick says,”They tell me they are living a real-life nightmare. Their sons were taken away in a most brutal way and they say, as far as they know, the killer is still walking the street.
Tanya Evans showed off photos of her son 16-year-old Angelito Caraballo. She has a memorial set up in her home. She says her pain and grief run deep, despite the passage of six months since her son was murdered.
“I feel like I’ve been saying since day one. If they would make an arrest I feel like they would get more answers from other people that know more,” said Tanya Evans, Angelito Caraballo’s mother.
The bodies of Caraballo and Mock were found in a wooded area of New Philadelphia on October 10. State police investigators say they were murdered two days earlier. Mock was shot in the head, and Caraballo died from stab wounds.
This is home security taken at Mock’s apartment in New Philadelphia on the night they were murdered. These are the last known images of the teens.
“As I’ve been saying for the ones who know, they need to come forward. Just imagine it being someone in your family and you have no answer. It’s not easy,” Evans added.
According to a search warrant affidavit obtained by the I-Team in the days after the murders, two other sound men were in the woods with Caraballo and Mock that night. Including, 19-year-old Lamour Branch. The two men tell different versions of what happened that night Branch is in custody on burglary charges in an unrelated case.
Kate Mock shows us the memorial in her home, including her son’s urn. She says she barely sleeps at night.
“I don’t know my son went with his friends and never made it home. That’s something that only the person who shot him can tell me the answer,” explained Kate Mock, Hunter’s mother.
A spokesperson for the state police told the I-Team they can’t say much only that the investigation is moving forward and they are awaiting forensic test results on potential evidence.
