    Welcome to the third installment of the Seacoast high school Athletes of the Week for the 2024 spring sports season, presented by York County Community College.

    This week, and in weeks to come, you can vote for a girls athlete of the week and a boys athlete of the wek.

    This week's poll is for outstanding athletic accomplishments during the week of April 22-27.

    How do I cast my vote?

    Voting can be completed through the two ballots listed below. Voting closes midnight Thursday, May 2.

    How do we learn who wins?

    Winners will be announced in a story published on Friday, May 3 at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports.

    May I nominate for future ballots?

    Yes. Nominate a Seacoast high school athlete by sending an email to sports@seacoastonline.com. Feel free to send us a photo of the athlete, too.

    Here are this week's nominees and polls:

    BOYS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

    Quinn Walenta, York, lacrosse

    Walenta scored a career-high six goals to lead the Wildcats to a Class B South win over Class A Windham, 10-4, last Thursday.

    Cam Piwnicki, Exeter, baseball

    Piwnicki struck out 10 batters, and allowed just two hits over seven innings to lead Exeter to a 7-1 Division I win over Nashua South last Saturday.

    Colby Christiansen, Traip Academy, baseball

    Christiansen's two-run double put the Rangers ahead for good in Traip Academy's 10-8 win over Waynflete last Friday.

    Jack Ferrelli, Newmarket, baseball

    Ferrelli, a freshman, hit three home runs and drove in five runs to lead Newmarket to a Division IV win over Pittsfield, 12-1.

    Patrick Bancroft, Portsmouth, baseball

    Bancroft struck out seven batters, allowing two hits and zero runs in five innings to lead Portsmouth to a 10-0 Division I win over Nashua North. He also had a double, triple, scored two runs and drove in four runs.

    GIRLS OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

    McKayla Kortes, York, softball

    Kortes opened the season with a no-hitter, striking out 10 batters across five innings in York's 10-0 win over Wells, and added three hits and three RBI in a win over Poland. Kortes also had two hits and two RBI in York's 8-2 win over Fryeburg on Friday.

    Annie Parker, Portsmouth, lacrosse

    Parker scored a game-high six goals to lead Portsmouth to a 15-5 win over Andover (Massachusetts) last Monday.

    Lily Thompson, Newmarket, softball

    Thompson collected four hits, four RBI and scored two runs to lead the Mules to a 12-6 win over Wilton in a Division IV game last Monday.

    Lila Smith, Exeter, softball

    Smith had four hits, two being home runs, drove in five runs and scored another five runs as the Blue Hawks defeated Timberlane, 24-11, in a Division I game on Tuesday.

    Amelia Anderson, St. Thomas Aquinas, softball

    Anderson had three hits, three RBIs and scored four runs as the undefeated Saints picked up a Division III win over Mascoma Valley, 18-3, on Saturday.
