Police investigate NE Portland shooting that injured 2

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Police are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday night in Northeast Portland that left two people with injuries.

Just before 9 p.m., emergency responders descended on the area of Northeast 131st Place and Northeast Prescott Street following reports of a shooting.

A Portland Police Bureau spokesperson confirmed to KOIN 6 News that officers who responded located two victims in two different apartments who were both suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. One of the people who sustained an injury is suspected to be one of the shooters, officials said. Police believe another shooting involved in the incident is still at large.

Police said the investigation indicated the two people involved in the incident were known to each other. The person injured shooting suspect, who was taken to a hospital, was slated to be held at the Multnomah County Detention Center on a warrant after he is released, the PPB spokesperson said.

A KOIN 6 videographer was on the scene Wednesday night and observed that a large police presence was still active in the area of the shooting by 11 p.m.

Portland Fire and Rescue also confirmed to KOIN 6 that they responded to the call, treated two people and that they were sent to the hospital by ambulance.
