Portland Fire tackles large sawdust, pallet fire at wood recycling plant

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Crews responded to a large two-alarm fire at a wood recycling plant in the St. Johns area Thursday morning, officials said.

Portland Fire and Rescue shared the incident began as a sawdust and pallet fire that has so far required two fire units. Crews say initial reports show the fire does not pose a threat to structures near 10300 N Lombard Street.

“Crews are working to contain the pile of wood products on fire from spreading,” PF&R said in a post on social media . “They are doing this with fire truck elevated mater streams being established.”

Firefighters eventually brought the fire under control. Officials said three engines and three trucks will remain on the scene through the day to “ensure extinguishment.”

No one was displaced or injured in the fire.
