Burke’s Farmer Market voted best market in South Dakota
BURKE, S.D.(KMIT)- American Farmland trust and the Farmer Market Coalition announced the winners of the 15th annual America’s Farmers Market Celebration, a national event honoring the role of farmers markets that ran between June 21 – September 18, 2023. Markets receiving the most public votes are declared the national winners. The celebration also recognizes top markets in five regions nationwide and in all 50 states.

Last week (Sept. 20, 2023), Platte Livestock Market hosted a calf sale fundraiser that raised around $14,000 for R-CALF USA. Sept. 22 Football Roundup - Gregory holds off Kimball/White Lake, improves to 3-2
GREGORY — The Gregory Gorillas held off a pesky Kimball/White Lake squad to earn a win on Friday night in Gregory. Kimball/White Lake quarterback Park Sinclair completed 10-of-20 passes for 112 yards and three touchdown passes. Blake Leiferman had 62 yards receiving and a touchdown while Lucas Lenz had 34-yards receiving and a touchdown.
Sept. 21 Volleyball Roundup - Burke outlasts Bon Homme in five-set match
CHAMBERLAIN — Burke outlasted Bon Homme in a five-set high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, 22-25 and 15-9. Burke’s Kailee Frank finished with 16 kills, while Paige Bull added nine kills and six blocks. Emmie Hausmann added seven kills. Ava Sargent posted eight aces, nine digs and 15 assists. Bridget Eliason added three aces and 16 assists.

Wildkats win Battler homecoming football game
The 2023 Gettysburg High School Homecoming game was a contest with the Kimball/ White Lake Wildkats. It was a beautiful night to hold this gridiron spectacle that renewed a challenge between these two titans that have been dormant for a good decade or more. It was also good that our iconic Head Coach Vern Smith had to lift the hopes and spirits of all participating and attending this annual royal event to honor GHS and its students, alumni, as well as the communities who make up Potter County high school sports.

WHITE LAKE — Kimball/White Lake swept Corsica-Stickney in straight sets in Tuesday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-18, 25-17 and 25-21. Kimball/White Lake’s Harley Namanny added nine kills, 10 assists, 22 digs and two aces. Lindy Kiehn posted eight kills, four digs and two blocks. Ryann Nielsen finished with eight kills, 17 assists, 12 digs and four aces. Sienna Gillen recorded 19 digs and two aces. Madison Meier posted two kills, five assists and 21 digs. Mariah Gosmire had six kills, four digs and three blocks.
