BURKE, S.D.(KMIT)- American Farmland trust and the Farmer Market Coalition announced the winners of the 15th annual America’s Farmers Market Celebration, a national event honoring the role of farmers markets that ran between June 21 – September 18, 2023. Markets receiving the most public votes are declared the national winners. The celebration also recognizes top markets in five regions nationwide and in all 50 states.

CHAMBERLAIN — Burke outlasted Bon Homme in a five-set high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, 22-25 and 15-9. Burke’s Kailee Frank finished with 16 kills, while Paige Bull added nine kills and six blocks. Emmie Hausmann added seven kills. Ava Sargent posted eight aces, nine digs and 15 assists. Bridget Eliason added three aces and 16 assists.

The 2023 Gettysburg High School Homecoming game was a contest with the Kimball/ White Lake Wildkats. This week in Brule County, South Dakota, two incidents occurred that require attention in the weekly safety report. The first incident involved a former nurse in Chamberlain who was sentenced to probation for tampering with fentanyl, a powerful opiate. The nurse replaced the fentanyl with saline solution, potentially causing patients to feel no relief from their pain. The second incident resulted in the death of an individual in a motorcycle rollover near Kimball. The motorcycle and trailer rolled several times after the tire went flat, leading to the fatality.
