Plainfield City Council Expected to Vote on Controversial 4am Bar Closing Monday
PLAINFIELD, NJ — At the Monday, May 13 City Council Meeting, the governing body is expected vote on an ordinance that would allow bars in Plainfield to close as late as 4am. Having already passed, 5-2, on first reading, the ordinance will become law if it receives the necessary 4 votes again. On first reading, only Councilors Sessomes and Cherry voted against the measure, which City Administrator Abby Levenson said would make Plainfield more competitive and better able to attract what she called "reputable establishments."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Currently, bars in Plainfield can remain open until 1am from Sunday until Thursday and 2am on Friday and Saturday.
