Douglass High Alumnus holds annual class reunion
The Douglass High School Alumni Association Inc. held their annual class reunion Memorial Day Weekend. The event was held on May 25 at the Warsaw Recreation Center at 6:00 p.m. The organization was started in 1928 to help the graduates of Douglass High School to be able to stay in touch with their classmates. George Futrelle honored at Duplin County Airport with dedicated terminal
The Duplin County Airport held an event to celebrate the legacy of the late George Futrelle on Tuesday. Guests arrived to celebrate the former airport director and assistant county manager’s life and career who passed away in May of last year after a surgery. The ceremony had an attendance from local and national guests who were honored to come together to support Futrelle’s family. A terminal was named in honor of him as the new George Futrelle Terminal at the Duplin County Airport. Starting from ground zero in 1989 to a fully developed airport, Futrelle created a state of the art facility in the pursuit of his dreams. The county remembers him as a dedicated individual who cared deeply to make a difference by growing the airport into what it is today.
