Regional water authority prepares for new PFAS regulations while aiming to keep costs down
The Neuse Regional Water and Sewer Authority (NRWASA) is exploring options for a PFAS filtration system in order to comply with recently proposed EPA drinking water standards. The authority has received some funds from the state for its initial pilot study. Still, it's unclear just how much of the financial burden the authority and its customers will have to bear if a costly PFAS filtration system is installed.

Badcock Home Furniture & more in Kinston to close amid company-wide downsizing
Badcock Home Furniture & More announced the closure of its Kinston store as part of a broader plan to shutter 35 locations nationwide. This move comes after Conn’s HomePlus, which acquired Badcock in December 2023, decided to close 71 of its own showrooms. The Kinston store is among the seven Badcock locations in North Carolina affected by the downsizing.
Local youths excels at Big Rock Kids Tournament
Addison Canady, a young angler from the area, made waves at the Third Annual Big Rock Kids Tournament held from July 10-13, 2024. The tournament, which promotes sport fishing among the youth and benefits children’s charities in Eastern North Carolina, saw 73 boats and over 350 junior anglers participating this year.
Kinston Police Department warns public of false Facebook page, scam
KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Officers with the Kinston Police Department want the public to be aware of a false Facebook page impersonating Kinston Public Services. They said the fake page has a link to a website that is not the City of Kinston. The city website will not ask you for your credit card information.
