County lines up purchase, demolition of Ypsilanti-area school for $30M rec center project
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - About a decade after it was abandoned, a vacant school building in the Ypsilanti area may be reaching its final days. Several months of negotiations between Ypsilanti Community Schools, which owns the former Cheney Elementary School, and Washtenaw County have produced an agreement to sell the building and the surrounding property to the county.

Howell's Stitch in Time to close after 33 years in business
HOWELL — A specialty yarn store in Howell will close in October after more than 30 years. The last day of operation for Stitch in Time, 722 E. Grand River Ave. in Howell, will be Oct. 31. Owner Charlene Hatfield announced the closure Wednesday, May 1, on the business’ social media page.
