    Flyers’ girls golfer takes first place in Cross Lake; Pierz breaks school record

    The Little Falls Flyers girls golf team had a great performance with one golfer taking first at the Crosswoods Golf Course in Cross Lake Friday, April 25.

    The Flyers’ Imagine Hines, shot a score of 71 , earning her first place out of 34 competitors. She beat the runner up Sophia Anderson from Albany by one stroke. Olivia Dempsey tied for 19th, shooting 95.

    Pioneers girls break school record

    The Pierz Pioneers girls golf team also made an achievement at the same meet. The Pioneers placed fourth out of the seven teams and scored 365. This broke the school record of 370, set back in 2021.

    Kari LeBlanc tied for 12th place with a score of 88. Macey LeBlanc followed in 14th place (90) and Cameryn Herold in 15th (93). Melany Virnig and Whitney LeBlanc tied for 16th place (94).

    The Pioneers JV took first place as a team. Trista Leblace led with a 94, Emily Boser with a 96 and Joleen Weyer with 100. Other Pioneers golfers who helped with the effort were Layla Betsinger (101), Kylie Virnig (104) and Brooke Athman (126).

    The Pioneers’ meet at Kimball has been postponed until Monday, May 13. The Flyers and Pioneers competed at Stones Throw Golf Course in Milaca Thursday, May 2 and will travel to Wapicada Golf Club in Sauk Rapids Tuesday, May 14.
