MEDFORD, Ore. – Fire season is just around the corner, and it’s important to be prepared and start making a plan in case your home is threatened by a fire. “I think it's taking the time to, you know, have the conversation within your household,” said Aaron Ott, the Medford Emergency Manager. “What are we going to do if a wildfire comes? How are we going to evacuate? Where are we going to go? And again, making sure we have the notification streams up for that."
Local music legend, retired teacher passes away at 95
MEDFORD, Ore. – The Rogue Valley has lost a legend in local music and teaching, Lynn Sjolund has passed away at the age of 95. Sjolund led the Rogue Valley Chorale as its Artistic Director for decades, from 1973 to 2013. According to the chorale’s website, he also toured Europe seven times and performed at Carnegie Hall.

Phoenix-Talent School District moving Outdoor Discovery Program next year
TALENT, Ore. – Changes are coming to the Talent Elementary School’s Outdoor Discovery Program next year. The Outdoor Discovery Program has been providing an alternative learning environment for K-5 students in the Rogue Valley since 2009. According to the district website, the program was created to offer project-based environmentally-focused education. The program is currently housed in a building directly across the street from the elementary school’s main campus.
Multiple southern Oregon schools awarded over $4 million in summer grant funding
MEDFORD, Ore. - Thousands of students will benefit from House Bill 4082, which sends $30 million in state funding for summer learning opportunities. The bill was signed into law on April 17 by Gov. Tina Kotek. Sen. Jeff Golden -- who represents Medford, Phoenix, Talent, Jacksonville, Ruch and the Applegate Valley -- was also a sponsor of the funding that estimates 48,000 students across Oregon will benefit from summer learning programs this year.
