A father was met with a heart-wrenching scene when he found his three-year-old twin daughters drowned in their backyard swimming pool.

The tragic victims, Valentina and Penelope Ruiz, had been submerged for an " undetermined amount of time' before their devastated dad called emergency services at around 3.30pm on Thursday in Arizona.

The dad, who has not been named, quickly called 911 after pulling their lifeless bodies out of the swimming pool and they were rushed to hospital. Tragically, they were both pronounced dead a short while later."

"Preliminary information suggests that this incident is consistent with an accidental drowning," Phoenix Police stated in a Friday release. "At this time, there is nothing that investigators have found that appears suspicious.'

Phoenix Fire Captain Rob McDade reported that the twins' father discovered his children in the pool. Firefighters arrived at the home in less than three minutes, finding family members frantically attempting to administer CPR.

Aerial views of the three-bedroom home revealed that the pool did not have a protective fence around it. "You can imagine what that would look like, how taxing that would be," Mr. McDade told local CBS 5 News "A tremendous tragic scene."

The police have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious, but their investigation is still ongoing.

This shocking accident follows a recent incident where a lawyer was arrested for allegedly brandishing a gun at three children who were fishing near his home.

Kyle Tate, a 56 year old attorney and board member of a Homeowners Association in Palm Bay, Florida, was taken into custody after he reportedly showed off the weapon before seizing and discarding the kids' fishing gear into the woods. On April 14, Tate was charged with grand theft and criminal mischief, resulting in a fine exceeding £1,000.

According to The Florida Bar, Tate is an active lawyer working at The Tate Law Firm in Orlando. Court documents also reveal that he serves on the board of a local Homeowners Association.

Last month, he was arrested for allegedly pulling a gun on three children who were fishing at a lake in his subdivision, confiscating their equipment, and throwing it away in the woods.

The confrontation took place at Stillwater Lakes, a subdivision managed by an HOA. Court records show that the children were fishing on the south side of the lake when Tate approached them with a firearm, accusing them of trespassing on his property.

However, the land they were on actually belongs to the HOA, not to Tate.

Tate is accused of seizing the fishing rods, reels, tackle boxes, and other equipment from the children, causing damage estimated at around $2,200. He also allegedly took a phone valued at approximately $1,500 from one of the children, which has yet to be recovered.
