PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – On May 19, 2024, the Phillipsburg Farmers Market brought locals and visitors to Shappell Park for the Weekly Farmers Market with its inaugural pet parade.
The event, starting at 11:00 AM, lined up the pets and owners for a procession of 23+ pets accompanied by their proud owners and a spirited small band of volunteers leading the way.
Judged by Kelly Bray, of McWane Ductile, Mayor Randy Piazza Jr. and Councilman Keith Kennedy, the pets and owners were all introduced at the market. From the Pink Ladies, to Miss Beauty, a Cowboy and some pets just joining in for the fun, the parade showcased a variety of dogs. Pets and their owners strutted through the park, their enthusiasm matched only by the wagging tails and a few barks that filled the air.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, four prizes were awarded to the standout participants:
1 st Prize : CiCi was a big hit! The Saint Bernard and owner Ryan had all the accessories to show off pride of ownership.
2 nd Prize : Pink Ladies in the house! Carly and her owner, Kim Derstine showed the pink ladies are still a fan favorite.
3rd Prize : Miss Beauty herself, Emiko, walked by Rachel George of the Styling Pooch had colored poms, bedazzling and was looking her best!
Honorable Mention : Winston, ready to say go Yanks bring the sports vibe, was certainly a favorite for New York Yankee fans.
