Ranger Suarez silences Padres

The Padres lost their second straight game to the Phillies, and third straight overall, guaranteeing a series loss heading into Sunday, where they'll hope to avoid being swept. Ranger Suarez was outstanding for Philadelphia, completing 8 innings and allowing just one run on a solo homer by Eguy Rosario in the 8th inning while striking out 8 on just 96 pitches. The Padres had only 3 hits while drawing no walks and struck out 11 times total. Dylan Cease had his worst start to date, allowing 5 runs in 6 innings, including a 2-run homer to Alec Bohm in the 1st inning that would prove to be all the offense the Phillies would need. Michael King will try to get the Padres back in the win column on Sunday.
