Stormy morning & afternoon for some Thursday
TODAY: A few storms could develop across our southern mountains and the Raton Mesa this morning and afternoon bringing chances for small hail (>1" diameter) and high wind gusts 50-60 MPH. That's all due to wrap around moisture from a low pressure system moving east from New Mexico to Texas. We could also see a few showers in Colorado Springs and across the plains north of the Raton Mesa due to a bit of moisture pushed our way by northwesterly winds, but these areas aren't expected to see much heavy rainfall or severe weather today. Highs will be fairly mild and slightly below average in the 60s and 70s. We dry out for the most part by 8:00 p.m. across Colorado with clearing skies overnight and lows in the 40s and 50s for most lower lying areas.
