Federal authorities have charged an Oklahoma man with mailing hundreds of letters containing white powder to public officials ahead of the 2024 and 2026 elections. Robin Martin is charged with conveying a hoax and mailing threatening communications, the Associated Press reported. BLANCHARD — For almost 50 years, Bert Burnside has been a registered Republican, and when it came to voting in the 2026 midterm election, he decided to stick with the party he has been part of his entire adult life. "I vote straight party. ... I come for every election, and I just wanted to cast my vote," Burnside, 67, of Blanchard, told The Oklahoman. "Most important race was the (U.S.) Senate race for me. I want to see the Republicans retain the Senate." Oklahoma imam calls out Mazzei ad using mosque photo to attack Munson

A local Muslim leader said he's disappointed with anti-Muslim rhetoric featured in an ad for an Oklahoma Republican gubernatorial candidate that contains negative views of his Democratic opponent. Imad Enchassi, senior imam of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, said a member of his mosque congregation initially alerted him to an ad released on behalf of gubernatorial candidate Mike Mazzei. He said the ad featured a 2024 selfie that he took with state Rep. Cyndi Munson, D-Norman, Mazzei's opponent in the Oklahoma gubernatorial race. Enchassi said Munson was among several visitors to his mosque when the photo was taken, so he was surprised to learn that it was featured in an ad that he felt was intended to show Munson in a negative light all because she visited a mosque and was pictured with an imam. A LOOK Back: Edmond’s Armory

Built in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), Edmond’s historic armory originally housed the Headquarters Company, 179th Infantry Unit of the 45th Infantry Division, known as the Thunderbirds. The building also hosted community dances, concerts, basketball games, and even a traveling circus. When the National Guard outgrew the facility, a new armory was built on Bryant Avenue in 1972. The original building served various nonprofit organizations until 1995, when the Edmond History Museum took over the entire facility. Today, the 90-year-old landmark at 5th & Boulevard continues to preserve Edmond’s military heritage and serve the community.
