Across the United States, dozens of Red Lobster storefronts are listed as closed and equipment from more than 40 locations is being auctioned off.

The restaurant chain − which is known for its seafood selection − operates locations in more than 25 cities in Illinois. Here is a look at the challenges the business has faced, as well as which Illinois restaurants are impacted.

Is the Peoria Red Lobster open?

The Peoria storefront − situated at 4625 N. Sterling Ave. − remains open, according to the location's page.

Hours are listed as 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Which Red Lobster locations in Illinois are affected?

In Illinois, Red Lobster's Bloomingdale and Danville locations are listed as "temporarily closed" on Google.

The equipment at both stores, however, is listed for auction on TAGeX Brands. According to the business's website, auction winners "will receive the ENTIRE contents of the Red Lobster location they bid on."

Bidding on the Bloomingdale location ends at 10:30 a.m. on May 16. The bid was at $1,337 as of 5:37 p.m. on May 14.

In Danville, bidding ends at 1 p.m. on May 16. The bid reached $1,351 by 5:37 p.m. on May 14.

    Recent challenges at Red Lobster

A USA TODAY article from May 14 listed the affected locations and highlighted challenges the business has faced.

In April, the article noted that Red Lobster considered filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Along with this, the seafood restaurant's "Ultimate Endless Shrimp" deal in 2023 was described as "a key factor in a $11 million loss in the third quarter."
