The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw, also referred to as the 'Christmas Tree Ship' for its role in donating trees to families in need, has returned an anchor it recovered from a 1895 shipwreck in Lake Michigan. The anchor originally belonged to the schooner Kate Kelly. The ship was on its way to Chicago for its tree donation mission when it detoured to return the anchor.
