Motorcycles take over Baldwin for 52nd Blessing of the Bikes
BALDWIN, Mich. — With near-perfect riding weather this weekend, thousands of motorcyclists attended the 52nd Annual Blessing of the Bikes. The event began as a gathering at a church in the 1970s and has since evolved into a large event that sets the tone for a safe summer ahead.

LUDINGTON — A black bear on the loose in the city caused quite a stir for one Northern Michigan community. The city of Ludington was buzzing all morning as law enforcement and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources tried to get the wild animal to go back into the woods. Ludington Police Captain Michael Haveman said there was a lot of interest in the morning visitor. “A lot of people came out to see the bear, take pictures and just kind of see what was going on. So, a lot of excitement surrounding this,” said Haveman.

Blessing of the Bikes roars through Baldwin this weekend
BALDWIN — The 52nd anniversary of the annual ‘Blessing of the Bikes’ is set to happen this Sunday in Lake County. The first ‘Blessing of the Bikes’, back in 1972, started small with eight riders and four motorcycles and has grown into one of the largest events in the area. Bikers and non-bikers alike from all over the country come to receive a blessing for a safe riding season and check out other people’s rides. The Lake County Sheriff, Rich Martin said with the thousands of people expected, it’s a good idea to be extra careful this weekend.

LUDINGTON, MI – A unique laser light show will highlight the 100-year anniversary celebration of an Up North lighthouse on Lake Michigan. The North Breakwater Light in Ludington is turning 100 years old. The light is a 57-foot tall steel-plated structure at the end of a half-mile-long breakwater pier at Pere Marquette Harbor.
Lake Michigan car ferry launches 2024 season, first sailing since July
LUDINGTON, MI – The engines roared to life, the horn blew, and this 410-foot historic Lake Michigan car ferry pulled away from its dock Friday morning. The S.S. Badger, its crew and passengers were greeted by waving crowds that gathered, despite heavy fog, along the boardwalk on the Pere Marquette Lake channel in Ludington. The ship passed through the channel, into Lake Michigan and quickly disappeared from sight.
Up North state park announces free summer concert, adventure series
HAMLIN TOWNSHIP, MI – Ludington State Park’s summer entertainment series will feature concerts, magic shows and educational programs, all offered for free. The Friends of Ludington State Park recently announced the lineup of 22 programs. The events begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays with a couple of Wednesdays mixed in.
Northern Michigan man arrested after threatening family member on Facebook
WEXFORD COUNTY, MI -- A Manistee man was arrested Saturday at his home as part of an investigation into claims that he threatened a family member on Facebook. Up North river access park with boat launch, picnic shelters, boardwalk to open this summer
PERE MARQUETTE, MI – A new park will soon open on the banks of Pere Marquette River in Northern Michigan. River Access Park, part of the expansive Pere Marquette Conservation Park, is on the west side of Pere Marquette Highway just south of Ludington. It’s still under construction and expected to open in June.
