    Fisherman's Corner gets liquor license, downtown restaurants expand options | News Bites

    As summer is quickly approaching, the dining scene is heating up with new updates in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. In this batch of News Bites , we’re bringing new summer sips , downtown dining options and foodie events to mark your calendars for.

    Downtown dining updates

    Dieci Pensacola - Cork & Crust Wednesdays

    Dieci Penacola brings a slice of Italian woodfired pizza to the heart of downtown Pensacola, now with an even more affordable option. On Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to close, Dieci will be rolling out Cork & Crust Wednesdays offering a specialty pizza and a bottle of house red, white or rose for $30. Some of their most popular pies include the Meat Lovers, made with tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage and ham, and the Queen Margherita, which is considered the original Neapolitan pie topped with fresh mozzarella and basil. The special is dine-in only.

    Bavaria Pensacola - Saturday breakfast menu, weekend grab and go

    Dieci couldn’t let its sister restaurant, Bavaria, have all the fun and is offering a brand-new breakfast menu from 9-11 a.m. on Saturdays. Some of the standouts include:

    • Bavarian waffle plate: Cinnamon, nutmeg, cream infused batter; garnished with fresh berries, more cinnamon and whipped cream. Served with two eggs and bacon. ($15)
    • Schnitzel breakfast and gravy: Thinly pounded cutlet (pork or chicken) breaded and fried with homestyle fried potatoes, two eggs and smothered in homemade creamy herb gravy. ($18)
    • Breakfast quiche: Baked in house egg cake filled with sour cream, thick-cut bacon, onions and caraway seed, served with side of curry ketchup. ($15)
    • Blackberry French toast: Warm French toast painted with homemade blackberry cream cheese jam. Served with two eggs and bacon. ($16)

    If you’re looking for something a little quicker, Bavaria's new grab and go menu is available from 9 a.m. to close on Saturday and Sunday, featuring handheld items like sausage and cheese rolls, apple streusel muffins, ham and Swiss croissants, Reuben hot pockets and hot coffee.

    BarSteak - "All Day" menu

    Starting May 20, BarSteak will have extended hours in store beginning at 10 a.m. seven days a week. On Monday through Saturday, the “All Day” menu will be served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Snappy Hour continuing from 3-5 p.m. and dinner service beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday brunch will also be extended until 4 p.m.

    Some of the standouts on the "All Day" menu include:

    • Chorizo tacos: Scrambled egg, gruyere, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli ($13)
    • Cubano: Thin sliced jambon ham, slow roasted pulled pork, pickles, gruyere and Dijon mustard grilled on a panini press. ($18)
    • Hangover Skillet: Potatoes, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, mushrooms, two over easy eggs, sliced hanger steak, American cheese. ($28)
    • Jambon Beurre: Thin sliced jambon ham with truffled Euro butter on a fresh Baguette. ($16)

    Summer Sips

    Fisherman’s Corner - Liquor license

    A Perdido Key staple for fresh catch and Creole flair, Fisherman’s Corner announced Monday they have obtained a full liquor license. A statement by the business said this will allow for everything from classic cocktails to artisanal spirits. The restaurant has previously offered wine over the past 12 years.

    "At Fisherman's Corner, we've always done things a little differently. We believe in starting with the best and letting the rest fall into place," Fisherman’s Corner owner Jim Green wrote in a statement. "While it may seem unconventional, for us, it's simply the way we roll."

    The restaurant is currently offering simple high ball and mixed drinks including:

    Beefeater gin, Crown Royal and Jameson whiskey, Tito’s vodka, Bulleit bourbon, Dewar’s White scotch, Tomando tequila and Bacardi rum. Highballs will be $9, martinis will be $11 and margaritas will be $12.

    Perfect Plain Brewing Co. - Blue Wahoos Blueberry Lager

    Pensacola’s local Perfect Plain Brewing Co. has crafted the official craft beer of the Blue Wahoos. The refreshing blueberry lager can now be found in the ballpark, the taproom and select Pensacola bars and restaurants during the baseball season.

    Salty Rose - Open seven days a week

    165 Fort Pickens Road

    The Pensacola Beach Resort’s beach bar and grill, Salty Rose (formerly LandShark Landing) will be open seven days a week starting May 25. Salty Rose will be kicking off the season with a grand opening and full moon party from 6-10 p.m. on May 25 featuring live music, food and drink specials, fire dancers, face paints and beach games. The event page states that locals are always welcome. The Salty Rose offers a variety of cocktails, bear and beach fare. Some of the standouts include the following:

    • Toasted Pina cocktail : Siesta Key toasted coconut Borghetti espresso liqueur, pineapple pina colada and cream of coconut. ($12)
    • Gulf Fish Sandwich: Lemon tartar, lettuce, tomato, red onion, brioche bun, fries. Served blackened or grilled. ($22)
    • Nachos: Queso, jalapenos, pico, sour cream, lettuce, tomato (served with chicken, fish, shrimp or beef). ($22)
    • Smoked Tuna Dip: Local smoked tuna, chips and veggies. ($18)

    86 Forks Bar + Table - Best Friend Day Brunch

    86 Forks is calling all besties for a special Best Friend Day at 86 Forks at 10 a.m. on June 8. The brunch will offer unique brunch features as well as the full menu “so everyone can find their perfect fuel for catching up and creating lasting memories,” the event page states. Each pair of besties dining in will receive a complimentary mimosa. Brunch specials include the following:

    • Duck leg (2) and pandan waffle: Slow roasted confit leg and thigh, golden-brown waffle and a siracha orange syrup.
    • Pork belly hashbrown bowl: Cubed pork, hash browns, eggs and eel sauce.
    • Mango Tamarind beef skewers (3): Marinated beef and papaya salad

    Reservations are highly recommended and an be made on the 86 Forks website.

    Brother Fox- Rustyc Collaboration Dinner

    415 N. Alcaniz St.

    Brother Fox executive chef and "Chopped" champion Darian Hernandez will be joining forces with executive chef and restauranteur Rusty Strain for a special collaboration dinner at 6 p.m. on June 11. The pre-paid dinner is $175 per person. The bar will open at 6 p.m., followed by hors d’oeuvres and wine at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Reservations can be made through OpenTable.

    Nomadic Eats - Mexi-Cajun Pop-Up

    Nomadic Eats, a downtown Pensacola food truck inspired by the owner’s travels through Southeast Asia and Latin America, will be hosting a special Mexi-Cajun Pop-Up dining event from 5-8 p.m. on May 23. Beer and wine will also be available next door at Green Thumb Wines as well as inside seating.

    “We’ve been testing some of these as specials in the past couple months, now it’s time to make an event out of it,” Nomadic Eats shared in a social media statement. “Such a great marriage of flavors and dishes.”

    The pop-up menu includes:

    • Red Beans & Rice Chimichanga: New Orleans red beans and rice, Conecuh sausage, Tillamook cheddar, fried in a burrito shell and topped with house made sour cream, Thai chili sauce and garlic chives.
    • Shrimp and Grits Tamale Pie: Tamale masa crust, Tillamook cheddar and heirloom grits, blackened shrimp and tomato Creole sauce.
    • Gumbo taco : Gumbo stewed chicken and andouille sausage, corn tortillas, creole roasted tomato salsa.
    • Chicken strips : Dusted fried chicken breast strips, morita lime mayo for dipping. *Available Nomadic’s Hot or annatto, lime and herb dusted.
    • Collard greens : Southern style slow cooked with bacon, ham hock, apple cider vinaigrette and house made hot sauce.
    • Banana and pecan bread pudding; Banana and pecan, cinnamon custard baked French bread, palm sugar rum caramel.
