Another round of severe weather could bring up to 6 inches of rain to Pensacola region

The National Weather Service has the Pensacola region under a "slight risk," which is a level 2 of 5 for severe weather threats on Friday, and an "elevated risk" level 2 of 4 from flooding from late Thursday through Saturday.

The storms could bring winds of 60 mph, large hail, and the possibility of a brief tornado or two, the Weather Service said.

The storms will also bring rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches and up to 6 inches in some areas, which will cause flash flooding events.

Rain could begin as soon as Thursday night, with numerous showers and the chance of a thunderstorm. In this first round, wind gusts of 50 mph could be possible.

The second round, which is expected to bring a severe weather impact, will begin Friday afternoon in Mississippi and Alabama and move into Northwest Florida by 6 p.m.

A third round of storms is possible on Saturday, bringing more heavy rain and isolated strong to marginal severe thunderstorms.

The greatest chance of flooding will be in Southeast Alabama north of Interstate 65, but flash floods are possible across the entire region.

If the forecast is correct, it will be the third complex of severe storms to impact Northwest Florida over the last week.
