Cold front brings brief showers Friday before temperatures fall into the 20s and 30s this weekend.
Silly snow map season is starting, and one map already making the rounds online shows huge snow totals across the Mid-Atlantic by mid-December. The map comes from the European extended ensemble, often called the Euro Weeklies. It is a 1,104-hour forecast, which works out to 46 days into the future. Snow totals that far out are not a reliable forecast and should be treated as entertainment at best.
Frostbite freezes skin and tissue, while hypothermia causes a dangerous drop in body temperature.
The coldest high temperatures we have seen since late March are expected across the Mountain State on Saturday.
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A cold weekend is ahead for the Mid-Ohio Valley after a warm week. Cold air is going to continue to filter into the region for Friday. This will keep temperatures from climbing above the upper 50s and low 60s this afternoon. There will be an increase in cloud cover today. A passing shower cannot be ruled out for Friday afternoon. Temperatures will then drop into the upper 30s heading into Saturday morning.
It’s been an overall mild Thursday across southern West Virginia, we had some rain showers move through early but have dried up as of recent. The dry weather will be brief in the short term as isolated rain showers are possible heading into Friday afternoon and evening. This appears to be isolated showers, not super widespread and shouldn’t hit everybody by the time football games begin and most football games still appear to go off without a hitch. I would definitely still recommend bringing a light jacket or an umbrella going to the games.
First Alert: Colder weather in WV this weekend
Rain returned to the Ohio Valley Wednesday evening, bringing showers and a chance of thunderstorms. With Oglebay's Festival of Lights opening Thursday, all eyes are on the forecast to see if the weather will cooperate.
It will turn into a breezy and warm day, with a cold front to our west kicking up plenty of southerly wind flow. Gusts of 20-25 mph are likely, combining with the sunshine to get us well into the 70s this afternoon. Cloud cover will gradually increase during the back half of the day, with […]
While the temperatures will be a bit cooler on Thursday, the rain is expected to taper off by the afternoon.
WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – Rain made its return to the Ohio Valley on Wednesday evening, bringing showers and even the possibility of a few thunderstorms. However, with Oglebay’s Festival of Lights set to kick off Thursday night, the big question is whether the weather will cooperate for one of the region’s favorite holiday traditions. The […]
Several West Virginia communities faced severe storms and flooding over the summer. If you suffered damage to your home, property or even your body, assistance is still available.
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Overview: Warm today with rain later; chilly days coming. Highs will surge into the mid-70s today ahead of a cold front. Rain arrives around sunset west of I-79, and there could be a non-severe thunderstorm. Rain continues at times tonight and tomorrow morning. Mild but dry Friday before chilly air returns for this weekend.
First Alert: Showers Return to the Region Wednesday
CHARLESTON, West Virginia – West Virginia is heading into November with temperatures climbing into the 70s around Charleston, but a return of showers by midweek comes as NOAA's extended outlooks suggest wetter-than-normal conditions could develop later in the month, raising early questions about Thanksgiving holiday travel and the possibility of rain or snow.
Howdy all! We are expecting rain to move into Southern West Virginia later on tonight, with many of us waking up to damp conditions starting tomorrow morning. This is going to be just good ole’ fashioned rain- nothing significant or severe. I expect anywhere from a few hundreths of an inch to about a tenth of an inch or so if we see some pockets of more persistent rain. Its folks across the southern half of the region, such as the Southern Coal Fields and south of Oak Hill that are more likely to see some rain tonight. Areas north look to remain drier.
A cold front could bring widespread rain from Pennsylvania to Virginia after two weeks of dry weather.
