    Pell City man killed in I-65 crash

    CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Pell City man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-65 early Friday morning in Chilton County, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

    Justin Washington, 36, a passenger in a GMC van, was fatally injured when the vehicle left the road, hit a cable barrier and overturned around 4:20 a.m. about a mile north of Chilton. Washington, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The GMC’s driver, 23-year-old Birmingham resident Karlmarick Thompson, also sustained injuries. He was taken to Ascension St. Vincent’s Birmingham for treatment.

    Troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
