All Saints services begin June 16 celebrating resilience
The Rev. Paul Tunkle, our neighbor from Dresden, will be presiding over the season opening services of Holy Communion on June 16 at All Saints by-the-Sea Episcopal Chapel on Southport Island. Please join us at 8 and 10 a.m. as we celebrate the resilience of our community on both the peninsula and at the chapel. The sermon and hymn selections will serve to uplift and encourage those worshiping together.
Dr. Bernard Lown latest subject of "Americans Who Tell the Truth" portrait series
The late Dr. Bernard Lown, the pioneering cardiologist and Nobel-prize winning advocate for social change lived in Lewiston as a boy and has said the experience helped to shape the person he became. Lown, who died in 2021, is the latest subject of an ongoing series of portraits recognizing courageous citizenship called "Americans Who Tell the Truth."

Readers with certain tastes may have to wait a while longer to get their next library book after statewide changes to a widely used lending program. Due to a complication with the company that provides transportation for sharing books and other media between libraries, the interlibrary loan (ILL) system is now on indefinite hold.
Be the One support is appreciated
A sparkling day of sun-filled skies and 75 degrees was the setting for the third annual Be The One American Legion Auxiliary Veteran Suicide Awareness Walk. Fifty individuals along with a number of furry friends took to the sidewalks of Boothbay Harbor. Among them were contingents from the Boothbay Baptist Church, Togus Veterans Benefits Administration, J. Edward Knight Insurance, Ashby Law Offices, Boothbay Region Elementary School, First National Bank (Boothbay and Damariscotta branches), and Anchor Church. The event raised $3,500 for mental health programs to help local veterans at Togus VA Medical Center.
