11 rescue dogs from Afghanistan on their way to Maine
BRUNSWICK (WGME) -- Right now, the clock is ticking on a mission to find homes in America for rescue dogs and cats in Afghanistan. Four-hundred of the rescue dogs and cats are now being cared for in Kabul, Afghanistan. An organization, founded by an American, is planning to fly more than 300 rescue dogs and cats to the U.S. for adoption.

Maine State Aquarium to reopen this summer
BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine — The Maine State Aquarium in West Boothbay Harbor will reopen this summer with several new tanks and exhibits - including a touch tank. The aquarium, which is run by the Maine Department of Marine Resources, will open on June 26 during the Windjammer Festival and will remain open through Labor Day.
Maine Days is back at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens from May 31-June 2
Outside of Gardens Aglow, there is no busier weekend at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens than their free weekend, Maine Days. Now a family tradition for many of the state’s residents, the Gardens will release 10,000 tickets to Mainers at no cost for them to visit on Friday, May 31, Saturday, June 1, or Sunday, June 2. Advance registration is required for this very popular event.

CTL students selected as poetry contest finalists
Two students from the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) in Edgecomb were selected as finalists in the 2024 River of Words Poetry Contest, sponsored by the Center for Environmental Literacy at St. Mary’s College of California. Enilea Burns' poem "Holding Our Head up High" and Fina Record's poem "Glitch" were both selected for their insightful observations and their creativity.
