Former MBI officer pleads guilty to using excessive force
JACKSON, Miss. — A former Mississippi Bureau of Investigation officer assigned to a U.S. Marshals task force has pleaded guilty to using excessive force. WAPT reported in September 2021 that a Ring doorbell camera recorded video of a handcuffed teenager outside a Jackson home. The video shows the federal task force with several people who were detained for questioning about a murder. At one point, John Winstead punched then-17-year-old Kevin Harris in the face.
Better Weather on the Way
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A few more downpours and thunderstorms will be present during the morning commute, but our severe weather threat has greatly diminished. Once our early morning storms clear we will be headed into a somewhat gloomy and mild day. Another chance for a few strong storms will begin in the late afternoon for areas south of I-20, but most of you will miss out on that. Otherwise, the next few days look dry and decent! Saturday may still be a little below average with highs in the low to mid-80s, but we will warm back to the upper 80s and low 90s by Sunday and the start of next week.

Cars keep hitting a house and the residents seek help
JACKSON, Miss. — A family’s home was hit by a car while they were inside early Monday morning, and they are calling on the city of Jackson for assistance. The home is on Erie Street and Martin Luther King Drive and the family said the home is hit by a car every few years. This time around, the home was severely damaged, leaving a portion of the front exposed.
