The new Atascadero High School pool is finally here
ATASCADERO — The new Atascadero High School (AHS) pool officially opened at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8. Student-athletes, school faculty, parents, and the entire Atascadero Unified School District (AUSD) trustee board were in attendance, and the excitement at the new aquatics facility was palpable. The school had been without a pool since right after Oct. 21, 2022.
The Counterfeit Kings playing at The Pour House
– The Counterfeit Kings will perform at The Pour House in Paso Robles. The show is this Friday at 7 p.m. at 525 Pine St., Paso Robles. The Counterfeit Kings are a Central Coast band with members from around the county. The band members are Ty Christensen, David Chock, Scott Robertson, and John Spalding. They have been entertaining Central Coast residents and guests since 2012.

Atascadero Library announces summer programs for all ages
ATASCADERO — Atascadero Library will be hosting programs for children, teens, and adults this summer, which will include everything from story time to yoga. Bilingual Storytime will take place on Tuesdays, starting at 10:30 a.m. Storytime at Sunken Gardens will take place on Wednesdays starting at 10:30 a.m. English Storytime will be on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. At each storytime library staff will share stories, songs, and fun with children aged 5 and under.
Atascadero residents state concerns to the City Council over Democratic Club meeting at library
ATASCADERO — The Atascadero City Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. The hybrid meeting was held in the City Council Chambers. During the Community Forum, six residents brought concerns to the council about an Atascadero Democratic Club (ADC) meeting held on April 25 at the Atascadero Public Library. At the meeting, resident Gordon Fuglie, husband to Councilmember Susan Funk, lectured on Christian Nationalism and the possible rise of it in the current presidential campaign.

Adoptable Pets of the Week: The Disney puppies
– The Adoptable Pets of the Week this week are adorable puppies from Novy’s Ark Dog Rescue and Adoption. The litter includes five boys and two girls. The mama is about 25 pounds and appears to be a rat terrier cattle dog mix. The rescue is doing a DNA test on the puppies but will not get that back for two weeks. The mom is sweet and gentle. One puppy doesn’t have a tail, one has a tiny tail, three have short tails, and two have long tails.

Local student named to Southern New Hampshire University President’s List
– Gary Brown of Paso Robles has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) Winter 2024 President’s List. The winter terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.
