Fast casual chicken chain Chick-fil-A is preparing to simultaneously launch its two newest locations in New Jersey.

The brand is scheduled to begin serving customers May 2 in Paramus (718 Route 17 N.) and Parsippany (1180 Route 46). Both stores offer dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and third-party delivery.

In Paramus, Chick-fil-A replaces The Fireplace, a popular restaurant that closed in July 2021 after more than 65 years in business. Ray Cowan will lead the site. He also runs the chain’s Ramsey location.

The Parsippany restaurant was reportedly built as part of a redevelopment of older office buildings that became run down and lacked tenants. Charlie Atie is franchising the restaurant. The former Prospect Park police chief retired in 2020 .

Both restaurants continue to accept applications for full- and part-time employees. Benefits include mentoring, competitive pay, scholarship opportunities and flexible schedules, the chain said.

After joining the company two decades ago as a team member while in high school, Cowan continued to work at the restaurant in college.

Following graduation, he became a general manager at a Chick-fil-A in Virginia before entering the brand’s leadership development program in 2017. Two years later, he took on the role of local owner-operator of the Ramsey location.

In a statement, Cowan said, “As a Chick-fil-A local owner-operator, I’m able to recreate the experiences I had for my own team members, and hopefully inspire them along the way.”

“My team members and I cannot wait to serve more guests and provide them with an environment of care and community. Paramus has been incredibly welcoming to both Chick-fil-A and, personally, to my family and me. It’s my pleasure to now welcome the community to Chick-fil-A Paramus,” he said.

The Paramus location will be open Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. It will operate drive-thru only from 10 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

    Parsippany

In advance of opening his restaurant in Parsippany, Atie spent time working at numerous locations throughout New York and New Jersey so he could gain practical insights and experience, the brand said.

Atie will work alongside several family members in Parsippany. “Chick-fil-A serves not only food, but it is also a place of community and belonging. Great food brings people together, and I look forward to providing a space where our guests can foster meaningful connections,” he commented.

“Chick-fil-A Parsippany will be an integral part of my family, and I look forward to welcoming our team members, guests and the Parsippany community as one of our own. This isn’t just my restaurant it belongs to the community as well,” he said.

Chick-fil-A Parsippany will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. It will operate as drive-thru only 9 to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Founded in 1946, the family-owned chain is known for its chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and breakfast items. Its North American footprint of 3,000-plus locations includes 62 restaurants in New Jersey.

To celebrate the two openings, Chick-fil-A has donated $500,000 to Feeding America to support Community Foodbank of New Jersey’s local hunger relief efforts. Both Paramus and Parsippany also plan to participate in the
Chick-fil-A Shared Table program , which is an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurants to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need.

In addition, Chick-fil-A Paramus and Chick-fil-A Parsippany will each recognize 100 local heroes making an impact in the community by providing them with free entrees for a year, the company said.
